The Rain Collector News...
Saving water to save you money
2009 and the Year Ahead
The Rain Collector is back for 2009. Even as I type this, signs of Winter trying to keep a hold are still present, but quickly fading.
As the main focus behind The Rain Collector is the education of water conservation and preservation, so too is the importance of maintaining a tool that empowers individuals to make a difference, now. It seems that the momentum of awareness has increased over this past winter, and this is a good thing. It is a sign of public progress. Progress that will ultimately be the push to care for our environment on a global scale. It all starts with one.
Looking at 2009, we must ensure that we understand the costs involved in protecting our environment. One point is the cost of water that could be billed to homeowners this summer by the utility companies. Rates have increased on average since the introduction of The Rain Collector. Now, we face a time where we need to spend money in value and in smart choices, more than ever before. So, why spend money on water from the utility company? Money that goes out of your pocket, never to be seen in any shape or form again. Instead, divert that money and actually invest it into sustainable solutions for the environment. For example, instead of just giving your money to the Municipality for water use this summer, spend it on a tool like The Rain Collector. You will actually have something to show for it, and it is a sustainable solution that has a zero-cost-per-use. This is money spend smartly.
The product itself has not had any major changes to it for 2009. In response to customer input regarding the product label, a smaller label that sports the new logo introduced last year, is now on the product. I have increased the environmental friendliness of the product packaging by moving to paper bags made from recycled materials. They are, in turn, recyclable. Lastly, the paint used will remain, as I am satisfied at its VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) rating of only 65g/L. This is far less than a proposed gallon paint that I was examining over the winter.
In January of this year, I enrolled the company in the Newmarket Chamber of Commerce. This association puts the product and the company mission in touch with strategic partners within the business community, making growth and progress well within reach. One such example is that this has allowed for the addition of credit card payment to the business model. In turn, making it easier for some customers to purchase.
There are many exciting events that The Rain Collector will be a part of this year. Stay tuned to this news feed for a list of events as they unfold. There will also be some very interesting developments in other areas as related to the product, as I explore new ways in which to educate.
Please feel free to send me an email at any time. I value input and would gladly answer any questions. You can contact me via the Contact page on this site.
